About Dental Bonding

Bonding materials are made of tooth-colored resin that is applied to your teeth for complete restoration in a single office visit. Bonding requires a porous surface for adhesion which requires a small amount of preparation prior to placement. However, unlike preparation for porcelain veneers, this will not require any of your natural tooth enamel to be removed.

Once we slightly roughen your teeth, one of our dentists will apply bonding material that we have carefully selected to match adjacent teeth in color. We apply the dental bonding in layers. We harden each layer with a special light before we apply the next one.

After the final application, Dr. Clancy sculpts and polishes the bonding to provide a naturally flawless appearance.

Benefits

When you choose dental bonding to enhance your smile, you’re also choosing a lot of benefits. One of the top benefits is how inexpensive it is. Yes, dental bonding only lasts for a few years, but when it delivers such amazing results, its low cost is absolutely worth it.

Not only is it a cost-effective cosmetic dentistry procedure, but is a fast procedure. Dr. Clancy will complete your treatment in just one visit. Other cosmetic procedures like orthodontics take months to years to complete. If you wanted to hide your gapped smile, it would take ages. With porcelain veneers, you need to visit us at least twice to achieve your results. Dental bonding gives you amazing results in just one appointment so you can look great as soon as you walk out our door.

Dental bonding also requires little to no removal of your tooth’s structure. One allows you to preserve your natural tooth, even after your bonding comes off. The more natural tooth you have, the stronger your tooth is.

Lastly, dental bonding results look great. We use a tooth-colored composite material that matches your surrounding teeth exactly so your results look completely natural.

Dental Bonding Candidates

The best candidates should have minor cosmetic flaws they wish to address quickly. Our dentists have years of experience with tooth bonding and can use this treatment to produce remarkable results, but bonding is neither as strong nor as long-lasting as other cosmetic options.

If you are addressing larger problems or if you have both functional and cosmetic issues, our dentists may recommend porcelain veneers, dental crowns, or another, more suitable option. This will be based on your unique needs and determined during your comprehensive appointment.
